Today was a beautiful day on the Salish Sea as we viewed multiple humpback whales and Bigg's killer whales. We visited Race Rocks ecological reserve to see the playful Steller and California sea lions, as well as harbour seals. This is a great time of year to see many unique sea bird species including short-tailed shearwaters, brown pelicans, red-necked phalaropes and more! Humpbacks are not the only ones gearing up for their migration: Turkey vultures can also be seen "kettling" at this time of year, waiting to catch a warm thermal wind to the south.
