We were pleasantly surprised when the fog lifted this morning and left us with sunshine and blue skies! Our morning boats headed west and found 30-40 humpback whales spread out in an area we fondly refer to as "Humpback Land." We saw an elephant seal nearby catching his breath before making another long dive, and enjoyed the wildlife at Race Rocks. One of our vessels even managed to scoop up some humpback whale scat as part of our research initiatives, which we'll be passing on to a post-graduate student studying humpback diets. September is a fabulous time to be out on the Salish Sea!
