Marine mammals are a diverse group of mammals living mainly in the ocean and depending on the sea for their food. Victoria, located on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, is a gateway to the Salish Sea. This beautiful inland sea is is one of the most productive marine ecosystems in the world and hosts an astounding variety of plant and animal life. Marine mammals such as killer whales, humpback whales, minke whales, grey whales, porpoises, seals, sea lions and sea otters depend on this region for part or all of their life cycle.

Watching whales and other marine wildlife is a must-do activity if you find yourself on the south end of Vancouver Island, British Columbia.
