Be like a harbour seal!

Did you know that harbour seals spend most if not all their lives within a radius of 10-20 kilometres?

For the next five weeks we all need to be like harbour seals.

Effectively immediately, only residents of Vancouver Island will be accepted on our tours taking place from now through May 25. This decision supports the BC government’s COVID-19 restrictions on non-essential travel between the province’s health regions, announced on April 19.

We’re doing our part to discourage people from travelling outside their communities at this time. If you don’t have to travel now, please don’t. We look forward to welcoming you when restrictions are lifted and we can all be safe together.

We know you may have questions. The BC government has information on travel restrictions, a map of regional zones, as well as a list of reasons for essential travel at www.gov.bc.ca/covidtravel.

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic the health and safety of our guests, our staff and the community where we live and work has always been our number one priority. Our extensive COVID-19 safety protocols continue to be guided by the advice of public health authorities and WorkSafe BC.

We continue to sell tours to locals at a 20% discount. We’re still selling future tours and offering gift certificates (book now, enjoy later!). We’re still answering our phones (7 a.m.-11 p.m.) and staffing our office to talk to you. Or you can book online!

Behind the scenes we’re working hard to get ready for what we’re confident will be a busy and less restrictive summer season for all. What better way to shake off those pandemic cobwebs than a wildlife adventure on the Salish Sea?

We can see that light at the end of the tunnel. But we’re not there yet. Until then, be inspired by the harbour seal: Think local. Support local. Be local!
