Sept 29th 10am trip with Capt Jeff and Dale on Goldwing

Started out by going south of Victoria. About 1 mile east of Race Rocks we picked up a couple Humpback whales. One of them was BCX-1068 Split Fluke and the other was a much bigger unidentified animal, but also an X, all black Fluke. We followed the 2 Humpback whales northwest and spent quite a bit of time with the Humpback whales, maybe about 35 minutes. From there we went to Race Rocks where we saw lots of Stellar & California sea lions, harbour seals, and even about half a dozen elephant seals, which was fantastic. 4 different types of Pinnipeds. From there we traveled west past East Sooke Park, stopped in at Secretary Island looking for Eagles and the Sea Otter but no luck. From there we continued west to Otter Point. From Otter Point, we went straight south about 4 miles searching for Killer whales. On the way back east about 3 miles southwest of Race Rocks, I found Super-pod (J, K, & L-pod)! Fantastic. The first whale was Blackberry, J-27. We followed the whales northeast past Race Rocks and they were heading to Victoria. That was there course when we left them. Roundtrip today was 68 miles total distance. Flat calm, phenomenal to see the Residents and Humpback whales.
