Started out by going to Victor Hotel, Constance Bank, way south Victor Gulf, Poppa Alpha, Victor Foxtrot at which point we had reports of Killer Whales in Race Passage. So we headed out to Race Passage, Bentick Island were we picked up the T10’s. Three transients, a mom and two boys. T10, T10b and T10c. We followed them north up to Pedder Bay, William Head area. We then whipped over to Race Rocks, where we spent some time with all the Stellar and California Sea Lions and Harbour Seals – excellent viewing! From there, we went to Clover Point were we heard there were two humpback whales, we searched quite a bit and could not find them. So we went back to the Transient Killer Whales which were now off of Albert Head. Spent some time at Albert Head with the T10’s. They were traveling northeast towards downtown Victoria and then just as soon as we were going to leave the Transients, the Humpbacks were spotted just south of Trial Island about four miles. So we whipped out there were we found two Humpback Whales, heading southwest, one of them was Split Fluke BCX1068 and not too sure on the ID of the other whale. We spent a little bit of time with the Humpback Whales and then back to Victoria were we actually bumped into the Transients off of Clover Point. Back to Victoria with a roundtrip of 75 miles. Flat, calm conditions with Transients & Humpbacks! What a great morning trip!
