Orca Families
When you first spotted something it was a single, dark fin piercing the surface. The there was another and then... could it be? there appeared ten, maybe it was more... twenty? The group swimming toward your vessel is in fact a pod of over 40 killer whales - an extended family group that have spent their lives together sharing responsibilities and organized into a complex structure unique in the animal kingdom. You observe constant touching and very close proximity maintained within certain groups... a group within the group that is a grandmother, mother, two daughters and a son. It's at this point that many often realize that all whale watching adventures are not created equally; what we know about these incredible animals is extensive and because of decades of experience Eagle Wing guides speak knowingly and first hand of the long list of fascinating facts that describe the animals that have become our very close friends.
All of the photos that you see on our website were taken by Eagle Wing Tour Staff or professional photographers. All of the following photos are taken with a telephoto lens and some are also cropped in order for you to get up close and personal so you may appreciate the detailed beauty of these magnificent creatures. Eagle Wing Tours is dedicated to ethical & responsible whale watching and wildlife viewing. We, along with the PWWA, do our best to adhere to strict whale & wildlife watching regulations.
