eagle wing tours whale watching

Spyhopping Orca

"Spyhopping" describes a behaviour observed in many whale species. By propelling themselves straight up, at times as far above the surface as their pectoral fins, whales can see their immediate surroundings above water. Killer whales in the arctic and Antarctica in particular will use the tactic when hunting seal and sea lions who may be hiding on floating ice.
