Seals and sea lions belong to a marine mammal family called "pinnipeds". Northern harbour seals are prolific in the Victoria BC area; seen from downtown streets as they bob on the surface of the inner harbour looking for handouts and also hauled out on many rocky points in much wilder locations during our whale watching tours.
